At a prior eye exam, referring to my dry eyes, Dr. Joy Lam suggested that I can help my meibomian glands to function better by giving them warm compresses and eye lid massages, even recommended a particular brand of compress for me to use. Because this went beyond my ophthalmologist’s standing recommendation of particular dry eye eye drops and shampoo for eyelashes, which did help me manage the symptoms, I googled this new idea. I found a video where an enthusiastic ophthalmologist demonstrates exactly how to massage one’s own meibomian glands. I also found that exact compress, highly rated and reasonably priced, on Amazon. So, I gave this idea a try. Now, a year later, my dry eye problem is almost under control, and not just the symptoms. Shampoo eyelashes? Yes. But my meibomian glands now do what they are supposed to do
