Honestly Dr. Joy Lam doing TearCare on my very dry eyes has been a lifesaver. My eyes were pretty dry to the point that I was getting headaches and using eyedrops 3-6 times a day (without much relief). My regular eye doctor said to just keep using drops and there wasn’t much else I could do. I was kind of at my wits end and a friend recommended I see Dr. Lam. She examined my eyes and discussed a couple options for my age and symptoms. She recommended TearCare and I went with that. TearCare takes about 30 minutes and kind of a facial for your eyelids- she heats your eyelids with applications that are connected to a device for 15 minutes and then after uses some sort of tweezer to push out the oils clogging your eyelids. After that, we went over an aftercare/maintenance routine. It’s been a week and a half since and I feel like the dryness has lessened by 35-40%. I put in eye drops I got from her when I wake up (as a precaution) and I am good to go the whole day. I haven’t had any headaches or needed to use more eyedrops. I will follow up with her in a couple weeks so she can look at the progress and then we can look at doing any next steps if warranted. The procedure isn’t covered by insurance, so it’s not the cheapest solution, but it’s reasonable for the area/ what I found cost wise on the internet (and cheaper than Lipiflow). You can use FSA for it. Overall I am really happy with the results and very happy I am working with Dr. Lam on my eye care journey!
